However, following a long-running campaign, it is expected to become illegal to sell Atlantic bluefin tuna between different countries.

The ruling will effectively stop a multi-billion pound industry and prevent restaurants serving the delicacy.

In the past celebrity restaurants such as Nobu, where Leonardo DiCaprio and Madonna dined, served the expensive dish.

But the population has plummeted in the past 50 years with fears it could die out altogether.
